FASTESTMANALIVE! Sabotage was a game we played as kids No golden trophies No more "everybody wins" Line drawn in the sand Impulse divisions made without a backup plan You knew exactly where you'd stand But old habits die hard Much harder than me And I never quite cared for complicity Steadfast as only the blackest sheep can be You stay up Jaw tight all night Writhing on the bedroom floor Atop a tank of desperation I lit a match and set my course Insomnia A sport more suitable for men A condition much less merciful than death Contracted from The existential push and pull From never shutting your eyes in the search for truth But old habits die hard Much harder than me And I never quite cared for complicity Steadfast as only the blackest sheep can be You stay up Jaw tight all night Writhing on the bedroom floor Atop a tank of desperation I lit a match and set my course

Broken Skull 02:28
BROKEN SKULL Broken skull on Sunday morning Monday morning feels the same Injuries I plan to keep around Lying hand in hand with you We're being held down By the hands we'll never hold The silent killer, hands of time, don't make a sound But the point blank screams are loud and clear Informing me that the future is now here My little companion burning my guts to ashes So why cant I learn from my mistakes? I'll just keep telling this same story Like the romances Ms. Emma held so dear Make all hopes of reformation disappear Bloodshot eyes on Tuesday morning And they'll always be the same Dead giveaway of what's keeping me down Lying back to back with you We're being held down By those dirty frozen hands The silent killer, hands of time, don't make a sound

BAIT FOR THE BUZZARDS The hounds are starving on the lawn All depleted eyes, just bags of bones covered with flies The Master’s off on a crusade The days of wrath are yet to come (Ginsberg) Negligence for now Bait for the buzzards Sip your old world spirits Let your mouth paint a mirage Through a veil of smoke, looking down your nose The mandate prattles on Decry the doubters and the worlds you’ll never see Here’s to complacency in prodigal fallacy Our comrade’s fallen on his sword He’s the only one that hasn’t noticed, the only one shrugging it off He wore his dogma like a noose With hollow convictions he kicked his stool So why is he still talking? Sip your old world spirits Let your mouth paint a mirage Through a veil of smoke, looking down your nose The mandate prattles on Decry the doubters and the worlds you’ll never see Here’s to complacency in prodigal fallacy

ALL THAT GLITTERS All that glitters will surely get stuck in your eye Causing temporary blindness and softness of the mind Some call me bitter, and at times I would agree I don’t paint a sunny picture in a bleak reality Yeah, nihilism was a shoe that always fit And I don’t know if it came looking for me or if I went seeking it But it gets old And takes its toll As I fall back down the rungs of this endless ladder But I’m still not hiding out And you’ll know my whereabouts In the odd chance that you come looking, you’ll know where to find me I’m treading water, and I’ll keep thrashing ‘til I sink If I don’t get back to solid ground, won’t you throw me down a wreath? If I don’t make it, will you hear my voice through the great divide Telling you to forget the downfall and think back to better times? ‘Cause it’s getting old Taking its toll As I fall back down the rungs of this endless ladder But I’m still not hiding out And you’ll know my whereabouts In the odd chance that you come looking, you’ll know where to find me

My Side 03:00
MY SIDE No doubt we've severed ties now No question as to why and how I may not always miss you (should be might...i might change that) But I'll miss the times we've shared Young and dumb and unprepared We've all got something to hide But tonight I wish I had you by my side We all stopped trying the day that feeling died But I kept a piece of you and it's all mine Roman candles on a rooftop We'd never stop for safety or cops Fireflies filled the yard in summertime We were jumping to the moon Drinks and trampoline in June We've all travelled far and wide Today I wish you'd sneak up by my side
6.
SHRINK, AUSTIN, SHRINK Whitewashed Like a Valium illusion Lacking the high Am I missing out on the attraction Of the Mediocre Life? Where's the danger? Where's the rush In your fixed-gear, black plastic pageant? I'll be the asphalt to your skin I'll be the razor to your 'stache I'll be the thumb, locking the wrist Waiting for your snarky ass I'll be the stare you can't avoid Breathing inches from your face You from around here, motherfucker? I hear Brooklyn's fucking great... I'm trying To discern the vapid value Of your forged entitlement Sneering Behind that drab, generic costume Like I could give a shit Where's the danger? Where's the rush In your fixed-gear, black plastic pageant? I'll be the asphalt to your skin I'll be the razor to your 'stache I'll be the thumb, locking the wrist Waiting for your snarky ass I'll be the stare you can't avoid Breathing inches from your face You from around here, motherfucker? I hear Brooklyn's fucking great...

COURTESY CIGARETTE We lay our hearts on the line We don't know what we're doing more than half the time Spend our days serving undeserving schmucks Waste our nights then wonder why the streak of such bad luck I'll just wait safely behind here, watching in silhouette, while you Line em up, gun em down, no courtesy cigarette Hot air balloon with a severed rope Ending up just like our failed attempts to cope Takes us away and it all seems small Inevitably we come crashing down and have to pay for it all It's still a nice dream to dream Whaddya say we go and blow off some steam We'll deal with all of this another day I think we're doing it again and I think that's what we always say
8.
BIG HEAD ALLEY Stumblin' down the road We built once stone by stone We once stumbled hand in hand Until it turned to catch me if you can Hard water swept me off my feet Now I'm stuck In big head alley holding myself Wishing I'd wake up with you Stop keeping tallies That's for us both Fish me out, reel me back To So and So Avenue We keep picking at the bones And there's always undertones Convinced I've got some evil plan But I try to make it right as much as I can Hard water's all I see or drink Since I'm stuck
9.
SUBURBAN TREES There's a sparrow laying dead On my sidewalk rotting next To a sign that says "Keep Allston Decent" And I laugh at the thought that The word 'clean' was too strong to use And it's been acknowledged that Boston sits on refuse And it's cold and sometimes lonely There's a man who died some years ago In my new basement from overdosing On some drug he must have bought down the street And I laugh at the thought that All of my laundry has its stains removed Within a room still stained by his death But his blood makes honest detergent Am I missing my suburban trees? Am I missing those dying leaves? I thought I was searching for disease Not the glow of these suburban trees There's an old suburban orchard Where I used to drive my car To sit and look upon the writhing winter branches And I'd throw myself to memories of when It was fresh to eat the earth And my world was little more than puddles and dirt And flies who knew how to share their food The subtle rebuttal Of every child who slept through their first nights home Now with tears and new fears To fight within the war against dying alone But we share this sickness That makes our stomachs turn, Our livers burn, And our limbs itch

Tribute 02:22
TRIBUTE We laid our bodies to rest in the Pacific Mangled, swept across the currents Fodder for the ocean floor A final mass amidst an ever-burning oil slick A communion for the sharks now closing in We were buried in the sky, falling to destiny Our shredded limbs came raining down Showering a foreign soil Left to rot in the fields and in the canopies We never heard the call of Gabriel’s horn arrive Some lived for days, some lived for weeks, some lived for moments Before bleeding out or being burned alive Never to see the faces of our unborn daughters Just granted one last lonely frightened unheard cry And this is what you gave us as a tribute: A pedigree that don’t know shit about sacrifice A kingdom of unbegetting little jackals A violation of the dreams for which we died For which we died
11.
Sign Here 02:46
SIGN HERE Nobody's home Those knock-knocks are wasting your time Forget the phone I cut the cord to disconnect the line I'm slaving away everyday It's hard work just to be ok No catching up No catching up with budgets or friends Half empty cup I'll fill it up when this chapter ends Sign here by the X and the struggling stops Just give in and go on and do as you're told Take your pick any color, any style blindfold

Tall Tales 02:56
TALL TALES It's all just getting stale Deep in secrets and tall tales I'm trying to find a way to help But I'm having a tricky time myself I'd love to throw this mask in the lake Leave all good intentions in our wake There's bottle caps all on the floor Awaiting days when less is more I'll try someday We'll still have back porch sing-alongs And fix all the crazy shit that's wrong I'll try someday I think we've had enough Breaking routine is way too tough Our anchors for the day I forget how fucking much they weigh These days the days ain't long enough With sleepless nights and empty cups An empty future a hollow week Repeat procedure, forget to think Drag the feet out of bed and back In between the straw broke the camel's back The bottle's dry The mind is cracked It's worthless, but it's living There's bottle caps all on the floor Awaiting days when less is more I'll try someday We'll still have back porch sing-alongs And fix all the crazy shit that's wrong I'll try someday
